Digital screen capture and video recording software provider TechSmith has been named a leader in the fast-growing lecture capture technology market by ReportsAndData.
“The vital factors driving the growth of this market are the rising demand for distance education and focus of governments on initiatives for promoting digital education,” the US research company says.
It predicts the global market will rocket to global revenues worth $39.2 billion (£29.3 billion) by 2028, up from just under $4 billion in 2020.
That’s based on a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 33.3%, says ReportsAndData, and likely to be spearheaded by its list of leading vendors, including TechSmith.
Adopting and using lecture capture systems can help teachers and managers deliver effective learning programmes and training courses, regardless of whether lessons are in person, online or hybrid environments, the researchers say.
But TechSmith offers more than just lecture capture
The potential advantages of such applications go well beyond straightforward “in the moment” recordings.
For example, pre-recorded lectures can be combined into libraries that can be referred to in future, helping transfer knowledge and experience learning from one generation of employees to another.
VirginMedia has used TechSmith SnagIt to record videos incorporating knowledge from 150 staff members who were about to retire, for instance.
TechSmith’s Camtasia is a screen recorder and video editor that can help you record anything on a computer screen or webcam, or import video, audio and image files and drop them right into your project to create engaging video lessons.
The Knowmia video learning platform from TechSmith is an easy way to make videos accessible and engaging, enabling videos from Camtasia or YouTube to be shared directly with a link or by embedding them in courses.
Knowmia’s Conversations feature can synchronise commenting with the video timeline — making it clearer which part of the video is being commented on or queried.
